ActivateUTS embarked on a Customer Experience & Digital Transformation journey and engaged Adrenalin to bring an industry-defining digital platform to market. The key objective was to deliver a CX strategy and digital platform built on a customer-first mindset with frictionless student engagement and digital innovation at the heart. The new site breaks the shackles of traditional university website design by offering a truly immersive and striking platform for students. Offering a perfect balance of contemporary minimalism, beautiful typography and bold imagery, audience engagement is taken to new highs through rich, cutting-edge UI technology that brings the creative to life.

Elevating the student experience
Adrenalin set out on a journey of customer-centricity; bringing rich first-and-third party data and behavioural analysis to the core of all thinking. The process necessitated a strategic re-birthing of all ActivateUTS digital properties in order to better engage students, drive club and event sign-ups and convey UTS’ reputation as a pioneer in digital innovation. The new platform needed to capture intelligence and understanding about a visitor and to provide deep personalisation and improve engagement and experience. Adrenalin’s brief was to create a conversion-optimised digital experience that nurtured student leads from the top of the funnel right through to sign-up for clubs, cultural organisations and social events.

Data-driven experiences
Extensive market research was undertaken with clubs and students. Persuasive architecture was paramount, facilitated through a fanatical approach to design-thinking. Qualitative in-depth-interviews were held with participants sourced from different student & club segments. We developed a prototype for a new ActivateUTS digital platform which allowed us to quickly test against established KPIs to benchmark the performance of the new website in a continual-improvement cycle. A clickable wireframe prototype was shown to potential users and our researchers ask them to complete a set of tasks relating to the product while verbalising their thought process.
Dynamic visual brilliance
Extending from the brand’s graphic device, the concept of ‘Play’ sets the foundation for the site’s design language. Catering to such a diverse and dynamic audience of UTS students and alumni, the playful and modular design transforms the look and feel with seven different colour themes to provide a fresh experience for returning users and also acts as a vibrant showcase for the university’s hundreds of events, clubs, merchandise and sporting activities. The end user experience is one that truly showcases the dynamic, fun and vibrant nature of what the clubs and events have to offer.
