North Coast TAFE is one of the largest TAFE institutes nationally, employing over 2,000 staff across 17 campuses along the NSW Coast, from Forster-Tuncurry to Kingscliff near the NSW/QLD border. Over 51,000 students are enrolled every year. Adrenalin was engaged by North Coast TAFE to deliver a foundation digital strategy and new Responsive Website Platform which would position the institute at the forefront of digital within the Australian education sector.

Extensive Stakeholder Research was undertaken, including accelerated requirements-gathering workshops with key stakeholders. User-centred design activities including persona development, customer journeys and user-testing against early-stage wireframes which ensured an information and content architecture which achieved optimal outcomes for both usability and intuitive navigation.

The redesigned website utilises an innovative wide-form design, which is a departure from the traditional content-heavy educational sector sites, allowing the content to breathe whilst making room for functional aides such as intuitive ‘sticky’ navigation and supportive personalised content that promote discoverability. A key deliverable was a site which catered to different audience needs including a high volume of regional and indigenous visitors.

Driving engagement

We delivered an intelligent “Find a Course” solution to drive engagement across the new site – which allows for predictive search results to give users “real-time” indicative results for their search terms as they type. This aids in reducing frustrations, as users can tailor keywords until they find results fitting their needs.
