What was your first ever job?
Who is your professional hero?
As a Checkout Service Assistant at Coles during high school. Looking back, I really enjoyed packing bags (it’s just like Tetris!) as well as tidying up the stock on the shelves. Nothing better than the sight of perfectly aligned bottles and cans on the refrigerator shelves.
The writings of Brad Frost
, in particular his thoughts around atomic design
and respecting the end user
, have resonated with me the most.
What is your proudest moment?
I would have to say beating the sunrise when completing the Hawkesbury Canoe Classic, a 111km overnight paddle from Windsor to Brooklyn along the Hawkesbury River.
What advice would you give your 18-year-old self?
Every year can be the year of no fear.
Who is your favourite person/brand to follow on social media?
Popjustice. Great, always-entertaining content on the latest in pop music. And their EDMs (on the odd occasions that they’re actually sent out) are a must read.
If you took a sabbatical what would you do?
I think I’d take up woodworking. After spending so much time crafting digital experiences, it would be nice creating something tangible.
What’s your favourite app?
Feedly, for keeping up to date with news and blogs.
What’s the worst thing you’ve ever said in a meeting?
“What about setting up a dancefloor in the office, letting users pick a song and live-streaming everyone in the office dancing?!”
What’s your favourite game?
Loved playing Tetris as a kid (see first question). More recently, it’s been Words With Friends. I have dabbled with Candy Crush.
What do you love most about your job?
I love bringing the designs to life. And given the variety of clients, with a team that's constantly trying to push boundaries, it's not always an easy task!
